Du Plessis says Dhoni is the greatest Captain: Royal Challengers Bangalore captain Faf du Plessis said that MS Dhoni is the greatest captain ever played. Du Plessis was talking in an interview ahead of the IPL 2024 inaugural match against the defending champions league.

Du Plessis says the CSK skipper is the greatest captain ever to play the game and he is lucky that he spent some time with him.

“He is the greatest-ever captain, and I’m very lucky that I spent some time with him over the years,” said du Plessis.

Du Plessis also revealed the part his years in Chennai have played in his growth as a leader, observing MS Dhoni and Stephen Fleming. 

“I think probably the biggest thing in my career that shaped me from a leadership perspective was my years at Chennai. Just observing MS and Stephen Fleming as a young leader was special to my growth as a leader where I’m today. So I’m very grateful for MS and everything that he is a part of the leadership that has shaped me.” He continued.

“So when I see him, it’s like a big brother that you see. You wanna beat him, but you don’t really wanna beat him because there is so much respect for that. But obviously, when you get on the field, it’s such a great match, the RCB Chennai match, goes back to two icons, two of the three icons () MS Dhoni and Virat Kohli) of Indian cricket.”

Du Plessis also commented about the popularity of Dhoni and Kohli in India. 

“I think the reason why Chennai is so loved and so followed is MS Dhoni, and the reason why RCB is so loved and so passionate is because of Virat Kohli.” He Said

Du Plessis will lead Royal Challengers Bangalore in the inaugural match of the TATA IPL 2024 when they meet MS Dhoni’s Chennai Super Kings on April 22.
